Tower of Fantasy x Evangelion Collab Adds Rei to the Game
Mark your calendars, Rei fans! Tower of Fantasy’s collaboration with the iconic sci fi anime Neon Genesis Evangelion continues—and this time it’s Rei Ayanami’s turn. Rei Ayanami will be added to the game on March 28, 2024, after Asuka Langley’s release from a couple of weeks ago. So if you’re planning on finally joining Tower of Fantasy and buying a Tower of Fantasy account for sale, it’s a good idea to do it when Rei Ayanami arrives.
In this Tower of Fantasy Evangelion collab, Rei and other Neon Genesis Evangelion characters will be introduced in the Vera Sector of the game. With mysterious Angels suddenly attacking the world of Tower of Fantasy, players will have to team up with Asuka, Rei, and Shinji to thwart these antagonistic forces.
Rei, Asuka, Shinji
Tower of Fantasy Rei Ayanami will be a playable SSR Simulacrum with the bow Redemption as her weapon. Some players have questioned this choice, but the weapon seems to suit Rei’s personality. Meanwhile, Asuka, also an SSR Simulacrum, uses a Spear of Longinus, which also fits her character.
As for Shinji Ikari? Who knows when the timid Evangelion protagonist will be added to the game. But we’re sure he’ll be the last to be announced, right after Tower of Fantasy Rei, so expect his release date announcement very soon.
Pen Pen the Penguin
Other than Asuka, Rei, and Shinji, the adorable Pen Pen will be in the game too! For those who need a refresher on who this majestic Evangelion character is, Pen Pen is Misato Katsuragi’s pet that she got from her previous job. This warm-water penguin would hang out with the characters before retreating to his freezer home (yep, Misato actually got a second freezer just for him). In the game, Pen Pen will accompany you on your journey as a smart servant. We’ll top up Tower of Fantasy just to have Pen Pen, for sure!
Other EVA-Themed Content
Aside from these characters, the team at Hotta Studio and Perfect World Games also prepared other exciting Evangelion-themed additions to the game. They wanted players and Evangelion fans to be properly immersed, so they made sure that the new visuals reference the anime as accurately and authentically as possible. The team even made sure that they got the colossal nature of Angels and the EVA units right. Yep, you’ll see EVA-00, EVA-01, and EVA-02 on a 1:1 scale in the game!
This Tower of Fantasy Evangelion collaboration also brings a new vehicle and outfits to the game. The vehicle’s design is inspired by the entry plug in the EVA units and other sci-fi elements in the anime. You’ll soon be cruising in EVA style! Meanwhile, the collab outfits were designed with the plug suits and EVA units in mind. It’s still Tower of Fantasy-styled but with the NERV logo and iconic Evangelion colors.
